Sport and Exercise at Staffordshire is an established, forward thinking and highly successful team. We are nationally recognised for the quality of our educational provision and internationally for our high impact research. In the 2014, Research Excellence Framework research in Sport and Exercise was rated as being of international quality overall, with 64% of the research considered as either world-leading or internationally excellent. We work across the region and nationally with a number of elite teams and athletes, sporting bodies and health agencies.
A permanent post in the School of Psychology, Sport & Exercise has arisen and we are seeking an inspirational individual to join our expanding Sports Science team to contribute to shaping the subject area and in particular the BSc awards in Sport & Exercise Psychology, Sport & Exercise Science, Physical Education & Youth Sport Coaching and Sports Development & Coaching.
In addition, the post holder will contribute to our highly successful online MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology. We have dedicated teaching and research facilities in Sport & Exercise Psychology. The recent addition of a Strength and Conditioning laboratory alongside a state of the art Biomechanics facility, refurbished exercise physiology and sports therapy laboratories provide an excellent, comprehensive suite of sports science facilities.
The post holder will be expected to take an active role in the development and delivery of the above awards; to develop external income and undertake commercial, consultancy and enterprise activity, and contribute impactful research to our internationally excellent Sport and Exercise Psychology Research Group. The successful candidate should complement our enthusiastic, friendly, supportive, and research focussed team.

This will be through consideration of your workload, an allocated a senior research mentor, and you may also be eligible to receive a personal research allowance for the first two years.
An ability to make a significant contribution to the Staffordshire Graduate and employability agendas will be welcome, as will a willingness to contribute to other areas of the curriculum, such as research methods and statistics.
Applications are sought from team-orientated, flexible individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presenting skills. Applicants should have a first degree in Sport & Exercise Psychology or Sport & Exercise Science or a related area and possess or be close to completing a PhD in Sport & Exercise Psychology. Applicants will be expected to be able to demonstrate experience of working within applied settings via involvement with sports teams or individuals.
Varied and recent experience of teaching and assessing in HE is essential, as is the demonstration of engagement with scholarship and/or research. Experience of module leadership is desirable for this role, with evidence of ’third stream’ income generating activity being desirable. Experience of on line VLE teaching environments and technology enhanced learning is essential.
An enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
