Main Responsibilities:
- To start Reception on time in the morning and close up in the evening, ensuring Reception (and any other areas of the building as indicated by the Practice Manager) are secure
- To greet and receive patients and visitors in a courteous and helpful manner
- To ensure that the reception is not left unattended at any time
- To monitor and maintain the display areas of reception updating information for surgery and other local recourses as necessary
- To answer the telephone and take messages accurately, passing message to appropriate person in a timely manner
- To deal with routine verbal information, requests from patients and other callers in person and on the telephone
- To receive and record requests for home visits and pull notes ready for GP
- To book appropriate appointments for patients, either on the telephone or in person, with the Doctor and Nurse
- To keep patients informed of the reason why surgeries are running late when appropriate
- To mark patients as arrived on the Emis and Adastra system
- To pull patients notes in adequate time for surgeries
- To ensure medical records and other filing is handled correctly and stored promptly and accurately after use
