Knowledge of Functional requirements, requirements gathering and Project Management is a given for the Payroll Functional consultant role
We’re not looking for SAP experts; more important to us will be your experience of working on Human Capital Management (HCM), HR and/or Payroll (PY) systems, the ability to work effectively within a large, highly structured organisation and an interest in developing our SAP capability.
So it would be great if you had experience in within a HR or Payroll environment, familiar with similar systems (e.g. SuccessFactors, Oracle).
You’ll have the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to develop and maintain our HCM, HR and PY systems and also support the effective delivery of SAP projects of varying implementation size, significance, scope and scale.
Role description
As a member of a small team of in-house consultants you will work directly with the business to deliver IT solutions to support the UK, performing: detailed analysis of requirements; preparation and validation of solution designs; configuration; management of the delivery of technical components; integration testing; co-ordination of user acceptance testing and change management activities in readiness for implementation.
Ideal candidates would include consultants looking for a change in their work-life balance whilst retaining a challenging hands-on role for a demanding client.
Responsibilities
Business Consultancy
- Provision of subject matter expertise on all HR processes in the Hire to Retire lifecycle and the technology underpinning solutions (SAP, SaaS and bespoke)
- Participation in the end-to-end life-cycle of enhancement work, from the initial analysis to implementation and transition of knowledge to tier 1 and 2 support teams
- Ensure the solutions continue to meet legal, regulatory and evolving business requirements
- Partner with the business to define solutions which meet their needs and pro-actively identify opportunities for improvement
Technical delivery
- Configuration of the software components to meet the business requirements of the firm
- Functional specification and testing of system enhancements where the capability of the standard software does not meet the business requirements
- Development of project plans and collaboration on cross functional projects
- Provision of tier 3 support for the SAP HCM solution (Personnel Administration, Organisation Management, Personnel Development, Recruitment, Training + Events, Flexible Benefits, Payroll, ESS and EIC) which is low in volume but can be complex in nature
- Balancing the priorities of project, change request and support work
Requirements
- Ability to acquire knowledge of business processes, using common business language and translate them into technical requirements and vice-versa
- Minimum 7 years SAP HCM and UK , or US or EU Payroll configuration, enhancement and support knowledge preferably gained from working in a similar role or on-site as a functional consultant
- Logical, methodical, solutions-orientated person with tenacity and drive
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Minimum of Bachelors Degree or equivalent
