Quality Manager
My client are looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join their Quality team in a pivotal role to the business. You will be motivated by developing excellent factory standards and will be able to communicate the importance of this to other stakeholders within the businesses from the factory floor upwards. Reporting to the Head of technical, you will form part of a strong team, whose focus is ensuring high quality at every step in the production process. To manage the technical department in order to manage, update and maintain quality systems and procedures to ensure optimum product quality in line with customer requirements and changes in legislation
Job Accountabilities
To positively promote, implement and maintain safe working practises and a safe working environment in the office area to ensure compliance with the Company Health and safety policy
To drive a culture across the business where food safety and standards are paramount to ensure that all customer and legislative requirements are met.
To provide direction and support to the technical team, managing and facilitating staff performance and ensuring structures and skills are developed to meet changing business requirements
To support the factory manager and group technical manager in developing and maintaining the quality management system and ensuring hygiene standards are maintained across the factory
To conduct factory audits in line with the quality management system/ customer requirements and to support the QA/hygiene department in their audit activity.
To support the Factory Manager/General Manager/New Product Development in iidentifying, trouble shooting and implementing technical changes required by the customer and legislation
To process customer complaints, ensuring these are processed through the system, with statistics produced to identify trends and priorities. To work with manufacturing teams to produce action plans to reduce customer complaints
To manage contracts with key suppliers of external technical services including factory scale suppliers, pest control services, and others ensuring an efficient and effective service is maintained
To amend/develop HACCP’s for all products and maintain up to date HACCP records
To ensure that food safety training is conducted across site, acting as champion for these initiatives
Skills Required
Be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
Have excellent analytical and organisation skills
Proven experience in a FMCG food manufacturing environment.
Willingness to embrace change, and develop people within your team
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Good knowledge of the Food Manufacturing processes and manufacturing legislation.
· Familiarity with customer requirements and codes of practices is essential
· Degree or strong background in food-science or related discipline
· Systems and procedural knowledge.
· Knowledge of BRC 6 requirements relating to specifications.
· Flexible approach to working hours.
· HACCP Level 3
· Food Hygiene Level 4
