Lecturer in Psychology

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in the Division of Psychology on fixed term full time basis until 4 April 2017 for maternity cover. The Division is based in the School of Applied Social Sciences in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and is home to 30 academic staff. We offer a number of undergraduate psychology programmes which are accredited by the British Psychological Society as conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, as well as an accredited MSc in Health Psychology and additional postgraduate provision in the area of psychological wellbeing.

We particularly welcome applications from psychologists with expertise in social psychology and also in research methods. You will contribute to the teaching of students on undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes. Teaching duties will include preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars, supervision of final year projects, contributing to the personal tutoring scheme, and setting and marking of assessments. You will be required to contribute to the teaching of research methods. There will be opportunities to become involved in a variety of existing research projects. We are looking for applicants who complement the research interests of staff in the division. You will be expected to be research active in psychology.

You will have (or be close to completing) a PhD in psychology, experience of teaching and assessing in the higher education sector, an understanding of the quality assurance mechanisms that operate in the sector, and evidence of the potential to contribute to the research profile of the Division. You will have excellent teaching and organisational skills and be able to communicate effectively with all members of the University community.
