Location: | Bristol |
Salary: | £31,656 to £35,609 per annum |
Hours: | Full Time |
Contract Type: | Contract / Temporary |
A postgraduate Research Associate is required to work within the Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group (http://www.bris.ac.uk/expsych/research/brain/targ/), part of the Medical Research Council Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/integrative-epidemiology/) and the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies (http://www.ukctas.ac.uk/ukctas/index.aspx).
This position is part of an MRC-funded project investigating the alcohol labeling interventions. Opportunities for data analysis and contributing to the preparation of manuscripts for publication may also be available. We are particularly seeking applicants with a proven commitment to the principles and philosophy of Open Science.
Research within the group focuses on the neurobiological and genetic basis of health-related behaviours (principally tobacco and alcohol use), with two themes: the laboratory study of neurobiological pathways involved in health behaviours, and the large-scale longitudinal study of genetic and environmental influences on health behaviours. We use methods such as Mendelian randomization to elucidate the causal nature of these relationships. We are also developing a programme of work investigating the role of emotion perception biases in mental health, and the therapeutic potential of experimental modification of these biases.
The anticipated start date of this post is: Monday 2nd May 2016.
