United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Regional Grant Administrator –West and Central Africa


As Regional Grant Administrator you will provide efficient and effective delivery of administrative and finance related tasks required for the work of the West & Central Africa Regional Portfolio Team.

In this role you will support our Regional Portfolio Officers in all areas of their work, including ensuring grant management systems are up to date and on occasion reviewing and editing donor narrative and financial reports from country offices. In addition, you will:


  • Develop and manage appropriate administrative systems for the Regional Portfolio Team

  • Liaise with counterparts in the other Regional Portfolio Teams to introduce and mainstream common systems and act as first point of contact for general enquiries from other internal departments

  • Assist with the co-ordination of overseas travel, insurance and visas for Regional Portfolio Team staff members

  • Provide administrative back up to the Regional Portfolio Teams including the issuing and monitoring of contracts for consultants

  • Provide material support to the “grant debt taskforces” – grant closure and donor communication / invoicing etc.

  • Update SCUK’s financial database with grants budgets as submitted by country offices and support established processes for monitoring of spend and issuing of income requests in collaboration with Portfolio Officers.

To be successful you will have a background or a strong interest in the field of international development or social/Political science. Including experience of operating and setting up administrative systems, managing a range of support demands from several colleagues or team members and organising administrative and logistical aspects of meetings and events with limited support. You will also have:



  • An understanding of institutional and non-institutional donors in particular DFID, UNICEF, ECHO, EC and UNICEF




  • The ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks efficiently, manage reactive and proactive work, and deliver tasks to tight deadlines




  • A high degree of flexibility and adaptability in order to respond to changing needs and effectively address issues




  • Strong verbal and written communication skills




  • Excellent organisational skills and good attention to detail




  • Strong numeracy and flair for financial side of grant reporting.



Experienced in Grants management and fluency in French is desirable.
