For a busy young family with three children (3, 6, 7 ½, the oldest being a girl) we are looking for an experienced live-in Housekeeper/ Cook/ All-rounder. Hours are 6.30am – 7.30pm with a 2 hour break working Mon. – Fri. Excellent salary. Beautiful room with bathroom, own entrance and some amenities provided. No driving necessary but an advantage. Start Sept. 2016.

The German/ British family lives in a large town house and employs other staff. Other help, if necessary, can be arranged (e.g. to help with ironing or deep cleaning). The household is run informally. There are no pets.

The duties are:

• Clean the house (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, etc.)


• Take care of the laundry including some ironing (not all requires ironing)


• Plan meals and shop for ingredients (online as well as by going shopping)


• Prepare/ cook light and healthy meals for the family (or just the kids)


• Store products and produce appropriately (including fridge)


• Liaise with the mother on duties and report on work carried out or things that need addressing


• Keep the house tidy and welcoming


• Run errands (dry-cleaning pick-up, etc.)


• Liaise with contractors and take in deliveries, if required


• Babysit (anything more than 1 evening is paid extra), approx. 2 x a week


• Care for the house when family is on holiday

The requirements:

• At least 4 years’ experience in a family with several children (full-time/ live-in)


• Competent in running a household well and run things efficiently


• Must have great communications skills and fluency in English


• Experienced in looking after children and their uniforms


• Be proactive and well organized


• MUST have EU passport or visa for indefinite leave to remain in the UK


• Competent with online shopping and deal with petty cash


• Non-smokers only


• Current DBS check


• Previous written references from private employers essential


• Driver a plus

Since the children are all at a school from Sept. 2016 the household is less busy during the mornings and early afternoons.

We are looking for candidates who are confident in their abilities to run the household smoothly, able to organize well and efficiently, thinking ahead. Candidates must be hard working, flexible, responsible and be able to work without guidance, able to deal with all aspects of the household comfortably. The personality should be warm- hearted, open, calm and confident. Some travel may be required. Previous live-in experience within a family with several children is essential – no agency cleaners, please.

The accommodation is a decent single room with a very nice en-suite bathroom and a window. TV and WiFi are provided. There are some amenities within the room and the family is happy to provide some of the meals. To start in Sept. 2016.

Salary:Approx. £500 net a week or depending on experience, 28 days holidays.
