Full Stack Developer - Salary Increase - UK largest coffee chain



Our client, one of the largest coffee chains in the UK (if you guess 3 companies, chances are you’ll get it), is currently going through a substantial digital transformation process and they are looking to hire a Full Stack Developer (primarily Java, but also Javascript)


It is a greenfield project for which they are seeking top tier professionals. The CIO is largely ambitious and is changing entire internal infrastructure to make the organisation one of the most forward thinking digital companies in the UK. They have tasked me to find the most driven and ambitious individuals.


Skills & Requirements for Full Stack Developer


  • Delivers across the entire product life cycle – concept, design, build (code), deploy, test, release and automation

  • Performs code/peer reviews within the team and across teams

  • Develops and extends the reach of existing digital applications, while helping to identify opportunities for future product roadmaps

  • Collaborates with PO and development team to deliver inspirational products and continues to optimise performance post release

  • Develops functional solutions in accordance to architecture design and coding standards

  • Creates and maintains a robust technical framework to support the products

  • Creates compelling device specific user interfaces and experiences across multiple brands with minimal duplication of effort

  • Keeps up to date on the latest industry trends and openly shares thoughts amongst Development Centre of Excellence on standards / tools / technologies / trends

  • Provides support on key products should there be an incident / problem related to a product that’s now live and requires a development fix

  • Works as part of a scrum team and may act as the scrum master as required:
    • Supporting the relevant scrum events; planning / user story estimation, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews/ demos & retros

    • Supports / collaborates with the team and takes ownership of driving forward relevant stories (updating the ticket on the Kanban board & Jira)

    • Jointly responsible with the team for converting the Product backlog into ‘Done’ potentially releasable increments


  • Acts as a mentor / coach to product team members / developers on areas of expertise

  • Recognises and influences key stakeholders to manage: adapts conversations according to level of technical understanding

In addition the Team lead should be able to:


  • Acts as an ambassador of client’s Digital Delivery functions – readily promotes the function and recognised as a leader

  • Understand client’s current and evolving business goals

  • Defines the standards, methodologies, toolsets, technologies and ultimately ways of working for the team

Essential Skills and Experience


  • Solid experience of developing online or multi-channel transactional applications

  • Strong software craftsmanship background

  • Good experience of development automation tools – test, build and release.

  • Scrum experience of working within a continuous and iterative delivery cycle

  • Languages / Tools for the Back end developer: Java Core/EE, Maven, Javascript, CSS, Git, Eclipse, InteliJ etc

  • Languages for the Front End Developer: HTML, CSS & JavaScript

  • Strong communication skills recognising and influencing the key stakeholders to manage
