Project title: Cognitive Neuroscience of Dyslexia and related learning disabilities
Primary supervisor: Professor Rod Nicolson
Project description: My earlier research has highlighted the fact that dyslexic individuals tend to have weaknesses in procedural and/or statistical learning, whereas their declarative learning ability is unimpaired or above average. I have developed a range of ‘primitive learning’ tests and intend to undertake cognitive neuroscience projects aimed at identifying the underlying causes, and evaluating interventions designed to improve the underlying learning abilities.
Start date: 1 October 2016
Requirements: Applicants must have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of a first class or high upper second-class honours degree in psychology or a related discipline. In general awards are usually made to applicants with first class undergraduate degrees and/or at least a merit at masters level.
