Research Assistant/Postdoctoral Research Assistant
We are seeking to employ a Researcher/Research within a well-established research team. The Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry conducts research on social interactions in mental health care, including developing and evaluating novel interventions, with a leading role in international collaborations. In 2012, the Unit has been designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre, the only one specifically for Mental Health Services Development in the world. The Unit is headed, by Professor Stefan Priebe, and located at the Newham Centre for Mental Health.
The post-holder will work on a research programme funded by the NIHR (QUEST) on the Quality and Effectiveness of Supported Tenancies for people with mental health problems, in collaboration with other researchers based at UCL. The project will investigate current provision and quality of mental health supported accommodation services in England, and includes a feasibility trial to test the efficacy of two existing models of supported accommodation. The project is a collaboration between: UCL Division of Psychiatry, Queen Mary University of London, the Institute of Psychiatry, the Pragmatic Clinical trials Unit at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Durham University, the Centre for Mental Health London, the National Housing Federation and the Northern Ireland Association for Mental health.
We are seeking to employ a Research Assistant to assist in conducting all aspects of the trial and contribute in the writing up of the findings. Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree (First or 2:1) or equivalent level qualification in psychology or a related social science with a very strong interest in research, excellent written and oral communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a team. Knowledge of mental health services and experience of mental health research is desirable.
This is a full-time, fixed term post for 21 months. Salary will be at the appropriate point for experience on the Research Scale 4/5 £29,610 – £41,969 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
