Salary: £14/hour (plus travel expenses)
Contract: Freelance Contractor
Application deadline: 23:59 on Thursday 10th December 2015
Interview date: Thursday 17th December 2015 (via phone/ Skype)
Start date: Early January (with an induction and training in London) venue and date to be confirmed on selection.

The Dartington Social Research Unit (DSRU) is seeking to recruit and contract an experienced Research Assistant to collect data on a flexible basis across the London boroughs of Enfield, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth and Waltham Forest. An exciting opportunity to take part in a large randomised controlled trial to evaluate a widely disseminated mentoring programme for young children has arisen within DSRU. The evaluation is part of the UK-wide Realising Ambition programme, funded by the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) to learn about and replicate ‘what works’ to improve outcomes for children and young people. More information about Realising Ambition can be found here: http://dartington.org.uk/projects/view/1.

The post-holder will be responsible for collecting data from families during home assessments, using a series of standardised measures, from January 2016 (data collection running until April 2017). You will receive training in participant engagement and recruitment in a community-based randomised controlled trial, continuous support and travel expenses.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate data collection experience. Previous work with vulnerable families and/or experience of working with families in their own home is desirable. The post would be ideal for someone currently studying for a MSc or PhD in a related discipline (e.g. psychology, social care, child health). Flexibility to do home visits for data collection during daytime on weekdays and weekends is essential.

We are committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. The post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure.

To apply please email jnovikova@dartington.org.uk for an application form and a copy of the Job Description. Please send your completed application form, covering letter and CV to Jana Novikova by 23:59 on Thursday 10th December 2015. Interviews will take place in the afternoon of Thursday 17th December by telephone or by Skype. For the successful candidate an induction and training will be held in London early in the new year on a date to be confirmed.
