Role purpose
- To develop and review education policies which comply with relevant legislation and facilitate the company in meeting its corporate goals and protecting the public.
- To provide expert internal briefing and intelligence based on analysis of the wider healthcare environment.
- To coordinate engagement by our external stakeholders that supports development of education policy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead the development of policies and guidelines to meet agreed timelines and quality standards, ensuring that they are fully aligned to the company’s corporate priorities and strategic policy, and confirm to the policy development process and taxonomy.
- Deliver expert policy input into education project work and broader UK education programmes, as required, to support the effective development of organisational initiatives which are fully aligned to the company’s strategic priorities.
- Ensure that education policies and guidelines are compliant with regulatory and other UK and EU legislation.
- Coordinate engagement with external stakeholders on education policy
- Disseminate policies and expert policy advice and details of any changes to key audiences so that these are well understood.
- Support collaborative working relationships with relevant colleagues within the corporate policy and engagement functions to ensure that education policy is aligned to the relevant strategies to allow education intelligence and risk matters to be addressed.
- Assist in building excellent working relationships with relevant organisations across the UK, to ensure we develop education policy that is informed by their respective views.
- Respond to external consultations around the development of education policy, guidance and engagement within the scope of our education remit, in line with the corporate approach to consultations.
- Work with the education, corporate policy and strategic relationship functions to anticipate and respond to key external policy drivers through strategic horizon scanning.
THE PERSON
Qualifications and experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Excellent understanding of evidence-based policy development.
- Extensive experience in developing and analysing complex policy at a senior level.
- Extensive experience of preparing briefings, policy positions and papers.
- Good understanding of a relevant policy area, such as UK government policy, EU affairs, the devolved administrations or healthcare regulation.
- Proven ability to plan and manage own workload and to manage competing priorities.
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and professional environments and across directorates
