Faculty of Social Science
The Department of Social and Political Science offers a range of taught programmes within the broad area of the Social Sciences. The Department seeks to appoint a lecturer who can contribute to teaching in criminology. You will have gained your PhD or be near to completion. You should have a thorough knowledge of criminological theory and an ability to critically relate theory to policy and practice. You will be a critical criminologist with a broad range of skills.
A record of research and publication, or evidence of the potential to develop research and publication is essential. In addition, you will demonstrate the ability to complement existing criminology teaching within the Department and be a good team player. As well as teaching experience, knowledge of both curriculum development and quality assurance procedures would be highly desirable. You are expected to play a full part in the Department’s philosophy to provide an excellent experience for students, and that includes having a visible presence.
