This role is a fixed term contract for up to 6 months The Indo-UK program ‘Advancing the Efficiency and Production Potential of Excitonic Solar Cells’ (APEX) on Excitonic Solar Cells development had been a success story between two Nations and which has paved the way for further funding of a second phase – APEX-II. The program requires the support of a part time technician for development of the Excitonic Solar Cell. The role of the Research officer/ Technician appointed will be to assist the ongoing development of the program by coordinating with staff members already working on the program to achieve the project’s objectives. They will be responsible for the laboratories including the operation and maintenance of (both teaching and research) laboratory equipment, managing the workflow of multiple users, setting up booking systems, minor repair and liaising with external maintenance companies. A thorough knowledge of relevant Health and Safety and Risk Assessment legislation, regulations and protocols is vital as the post is responsible for ensuring the research operates within a clear Health and Safety framework. The successful candidate will have a significant understanding of scientific principles and practices relating to the area of optoelectronics particularly solar cells. They will be a confident communicator who is able to demonstrate an ability to clearly and effectively impart complex and technical principles and requirements to colleagues and students with different levels of knowledge and expertise. In addition, this person may have to engage in coordinating work with partners’ laboratories in the UK and India and may be asked to undertake travel if needed.
