SEN Primary Teaching Assistant- West London

A client School located in the Westminster borough is seeking a Teaching Assistant for a year 2 primary class on a long term basis; this role will require you to work specifically with a pupil with ASD (Autism).


The successful applicant must be confident to support on a 1:1 basis.


This position will see you join the School immediately from Monday 22nd February and commit up to July 2016, this role would suit an individual who is passionate to pursue their career within education, having the opportunity to gain some invaluable classroom experience as well as supporting on a 1:1 basis.


This School has been recently judged outstanding and are particularly proud of their modern building and excellent resources they have available for all staff.


As a Teaching Assistant you will be required to work closely with the class teacher with the delivery of lessons within year 2 and in particular providing 1:1 support to an autistic pupil.


You must be a confident individual who is able to support on a 1:1 basis, being able to use your initiative and encourage pupils to achieve.


The pupil is currently working well but requires continuity, someone who is able to break down the lesson and set boundaries as the pupil can be easily distracted.
Although the role will be mainly 1:1 support you will have an opportunity to work closely within the class generally, so must be proactive, display enthusiasm and initiative.


Despite the post having its challenges it is ultimately very rewarding for the right individual and will give the right individual some invaluable SEN experience along with excellent support from the team and training where needed.


An enthusiastic, confident, adaptable and passionate individual would work well in this two form entry Primary School; Pupils are high achieving and respond well to support. The child you will be supporting is working well and simply requires the continuity to focus to continue achievement.


Ideally the successful candidate will have a degree in Psychology or an interest / passionate to pursue or expand your SEN experience.


Although training and support is provided you must have some recent child related experience, in this case Autism experience would be preferred.


The Head teacher is looking for a Teaching Assistant who is educated to degree level, having a successful team of Graduate Teaching Assistants the Head teacher and SENCO would like to continue this success.


Someone with a calm temperament and a passion for special needs will suit this supportive Primary School.
