Department

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, with its range of subjects, programmes and combinations, offers an impressive range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research studies with well-qualified academic members of staff committed to success and achievement. Our inter and multi-disciplinary approaches provide applied learning to real-world contexts and issues across all our subjects – Abuse Studies, Childhood and Youth Studies, Crime Studies, English, Film and Television Studies, Outdoor Studies, Psychology, Philosophy and Sociology. We have excellent links, too, with many of our local employers, agencies, schools and communities – providing students with the opportunity to work within the community, in private or public sector organisations or join voluntary groups.

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies has a reputation for excellent undergraduate provision across a number of subject areas, including Abuse Studies, Childhood and Youth Studies, Crime Studies, English, Film and TV, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology and Outdoor Studies. Staff have a wide range of research interests within their specific disciplines as well as offering interdisciplinary exchange and interactions between research activities. The Psychology programmes are BPS accredited.

The Manchester Metropolitan University Cheshire Campus is home to a diverse academic community specialising in Exercise and Sport, Humanities and Social Sciences, Arts, Business and Education. Our REF2014 submission to Allied Health Professions, into which staff from both Interdisciplinary Studies and Exercise and Sport Science were submitted, was excellent ranking 12/94 and with 100% of our impact rated as 3* or 4*.

Role

The Senior Lecturer post in Psychology has a Health focus and will contribute to teaching across both the subject area and generally within the Interdisciplinary Studies Department. The post holder will have specialisms in the Psychology of Health and one or more of the following areas: Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Research Methods and Biological Psychology

Ideal Candidate

Candidates should be suitably experienced and qualified to PhD level, with knowledge and experience in the relevant areas of Psychology. You will be able to demonstrate a capacity to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, and with contacts in the public and private sectors. You will also have skills and the necessary experience to support teaching and learning in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies.
