Student Services Reception Assistant - London





1. Play a key role in meeting and greeting students who are making use

of services.

2. Provide initial advice and information to prospective students;

students; staff and visitors on a range of issues efficiently,

effectively and in a timely manner.

3. Work closely with Student Services staff and the Hubs in relation

to making appointments

4. Contribute to the co-operative ethos of the team by supporting colleagues

5. Keep accurate data relating to the nature of enquiries received

6. Contribute to the work of Department of Student Services as required.

7. Undertake other duties of a reasonable nature, as may be determined

by the post holder’s line manger from time to time, in consultation

with the post holder.

8. Carry out all duties in accordance with the University’s Equal

Opportunities Policy and other policies designed to protect members of

staff or students from harassment. It is the duty of the post holder

not to act in a prejudicial or discriminatory manner towards members

of staff, students, visitors or members of the public. The post holder

should also counteract such practice or behaviour by challenging or

reporting it.

9. Take reasonable care of health and safety of self, other people and

resources whilst at work to comply with the University’s Health and

Safety Policy, Codes of Practice and local rules.

10. Co-operate with the line manager, or any other person with specific

responsibility for health and safety, to enable the University’s

responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act to be

performed.

Experience / Skills


1. A good standard of Education (including a high grade in English at

GCSE) and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in

writing. The ability to accurately interpret requests and to respond

appropriately.

2. Evidence of training in and / or commitment to good customer care.

3. Knowledge of the Higher Education sector and / or large

organisations. Some knowledge of the services provided by other

specialist areas (e.g.Accommodation, Careers, Chaplinacy Counselling,

Disabilities, Dyslexia, , Funding )

4. Ability to manage and prioritise own workload in response to

service requirements.

5.Ability to work closely with managers to ensure that a high level

of service and support is delivered.

6. The ability to respond appropriately to students presenting in a

range of emotional states.

7.The willingness and ability to work flexibly
