Our client has an exciting opportunity for 2 x Fitters to join the team based in London. The successful candidates will join them on a full time permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary of £11 to £15 per hour dependent upon experience + benefits.
The role of the Fitters is to install and repair pre manufactured standard and bespoke opening roof Lights onto both new build construction sites and existing properties. The units are generally glazed aluminium but can be steel and can be large and heavy especially where units are designed with ‘Walk on’ glass. The installation fitter’s work in teams of two based from a well equipped van. The role involves working at height on roofs using a harness where other safety protection is not possible, includes skillful use of hand tools and an engineering or electrical background or knowledge would be an advantage. Jobs are assigned on a weekly basis and the fitters control their own working hours and schedule. Working hours are 37.5 per week, 7.5 hours daily Monday to Friday. Overtime payments are earned daily on top of the standard hours and are paid at time and a half. Any hours on standby at home are paid at the basic hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities of the Fitters:
– To install and repair standard and bespoke opening roof lights.
– To liaise with the building owner or main contractor to plan the installation work following the crane lift of the unit into place where required.
– Ensure roof lights are fitted to a high standard of accuracy and conformity to drawings and the area left clean and tidy.
– Ensure that standards of Health and Safety are maintained at all times.
– Ensure that each roof light is complete, tested and signed off before leaving the area.
– Will be required to attend client locations anywhere in the UK and Ireland to assist on site installation.
Skills required by the ideal Fitters:
– Background of engineering experience or electrical assembly work, may suit someone with roofing experience.
– Experience in the Construction or Glazing Industry would be an advantage but not essential.
– Able to interpret engineering drawings
– Able to work without supervision
– Willing to work varied hours.
– Driving Licence
– Able to work effectively with hand tools
– Able to measure and check accuracy of manufactured units.
– CSCS Card (can be applied for after joining)
