Job Title: Medical Secretary

As the Medical Secretary you will work as part of a busy team charging with the delivery of high quality secretarial and administrative support to consultants and patients alike. Crucially, you will be able to juggle the demands of the clinic’s overall secretarial workload with the demands of your own secretarial support to a wide and varied consultant base.


Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
*Ensure absolute confidentiality of medical information at all times
*To remain familiar with, and adhere to, Policies and Procedures, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, ever mindful on the precautions for personal safety of self, colleagues and members of the public in the building.
*To attend practitioner meetings and to participate in social events (both team and business) where requested.
*To ensure a high quality of accuracy in the registration of name details, addresses, email addresses and relevant associated doctors and that this accuracy is carried over to template letters.
*To ensure the accurate population of key fields in the patient database
*To provide meticulous attention to the production of patient letters
*To ensure the consulting room, computer, messages are prepared ahead of a consultant’s clinic.
*To deploy sound communication skills through the medium of email, with sound consideration of diplomacy, reader, and meaning.
*Effective management of telephone calls
*Management of insurance claim forms, accurate and timely completion of forms
*To ensure medication reconciliations and patient records are to date, collated and managed with accuracy
*To arrange, where required, hospital visits for patients
