Pensions Analyst


Pension Technical Analyst / Paraplanner

Location: London / Malta


Salary: In line with experience


Our client is an FCA regulated International firm operating in the UK and Southern Europe. They are looking to expand their technical support team in response to the high and growing numbers of existing and potential clients.


Ideally looking for candidates at Chartered level, our client is also interested in applicants that are currently working towards this level, especially if they have a particular interest in Pensions and At Retirement products and the G60 / JO4 / JO5 / AF3 qualifications. Candidates currently working as a Pension’s transfer specialist, or as a senior paraplanner are also of interest. Experience of the overseas pension’s arena would be an advantage, although not essential.


The role entails helping to review, advise, and sign off transfers from the UK pensions market to QROPS as well as UK to UK pension transfers.


The role can be based in London or Malta but in the event of being based in London you will be expected to travel to Malta when required.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Supporting Partners and Private Client Managers in the provision of Pension Advice to their clients and with answering technical questions.


Analysis of Money Purchase (MP) and Defined Benefit (DB) Schemes.


Writing Pensions Reports.


Tracking enquiries, assessing information received.


Assessing FPQs (Fact-find) and client’s needs.


Making recommendations on whether to transfer (or not) to QROPS and other Pension products (including UK Income Drawdown, PP, SIPP, Annuity etc.)


Writing reports in support of the advice.


Tracking enquiries, assessing information received.


Case management.


Conducting research into existing policies / benefits, analysing and presenting the results using tools spreadsheets as appropriate.


Requesting, checking and assessing DB scheme transfers.


Obtaining annuity comparisons.


Providing GAD Calculations.


Liaising with Ceding Schemes for additional information or requirements.


Double checking cases initially assessed by other analyst and submitting comments in response.


Discussing Partner specific cases as and when required.


Assessing lifetime allowance risk.


Assessing returns required to compete with GSA/GAR & GMP.


To supply staff training as and when required.


Providing technical guidance as and when required to Partners and members of the UK .Business and Client Services Teams.


Maintain and continue to develop competency via CPD and exams.


Double checking other paraplanner reports.


Cover for other Analyst when on leave.


Assisting / dealing with ad-hoc projects as and when required.
