Applications are sought for a Research Assistant on the Intellectual Disability and Mental Health: Genetic Impact on Neurodevelopment (IMAGINE ID) study. The IMAGINE ID Study aims to answer one of the questions parents often ask when their child has a rare genetic condition: “So what does this mean for my child?” To answer this question we are collecting lots of information about 5,000 children with intellectual disability. This will help us understand the impact of genetic changes on their behaviour. The post is funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) and Medical Research Foundation.
We are looking for a person who has excellent sensitivity and empathy with families, especially experience of working with children who have intellectual disability. There will be home visits required, so an ability to work flexible hours is essential.
This post is initially funded until May 2019 in the first instance.
The successful candidate will have a BSc (First or higher 2:1) awarded in psychology or other relevant subject area, specialising in cognitive neuroscience and have previous experience related to psychology of human disease.
Experience of psychometric testing with children and adults is essential as is Knowledge of academic psychology and experience with face-to-face assessments with families/participants with additional needs.
