Part time Learning Resources Manager





35 hours – 39 weeks


The purpose of the role is to manage and operate a core -learning environment, which is used by the whole school community. The LRC Manager is responsible for the management, development, promotion and evaluation of resources appropriate to the learning, teaching and research needs across the school.


To continue to develop the success of the existing provision and with SLT and curriculum leaders to plan the creation of a new learning resources facility which will be a centre of excellence regionally.  Create and implement Library and Information Technology policies which incorporate the educational aims and objectives of the school, reflect best practice and comply with data protection, copyright, health & safety legislation and the school’s disciplinary code.  Advise the Literacy Coordinator and Senior Leadership Team on latest developments in libraries and Information Technology in order to inform strategy.  To contribute to the library and Information Technology strand of the School Development Plan.  Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the library’s contribution to learning and teaching regularly in order to support the educational aims and objectives of the school.  Contribute to whole-school curriculum and policy development through liaison with all departments via attendance at the regular cycle of meetings.  To maintain the library database recording student and staff borrowing according to data protection regulations and guidance.  To provide reports and management information for Line Manager, SLT, governors and others as required.  Take responsibility for and manage the Library budget, including the preparation of budget bids and projected spending. Managing the Environment  Organise and maintain a welcoming, orderly and stimulating environment for curriculum based and independent learning, ensuring its effective use by classes and individuals.  To supervise and proactively support staff and student users of the Learning Resource Centre, within an agreed rota, to help ensure effective use of available resources throughout the day. Teaching, Learning & Curriculum  Select, acquire, organise and promote a wide range of resources in a variety of formats, traditional, electronic and multi media, to support teaching and learning throughout the school, and where appropriate the equipment to access them.  Maintain a well-organised, accurate and up-to-date database of all library resources and ensure that these resources are signposted to support teaching and learning across the curriculum.  Support and advise students and teachers to enable all users to identify, locate, access and effectively use the resources they need to support their curricular and independent needs.  To be responsible for maintaining and updating reading and research skills development resources.  Coordinate with teaching colleagues the delivery of transferrable information learning and knowledge access skills to promote independent lifelong learning.  To plan, deliver and evaluate the library induction programme for year 7 students.  To work with the Literacy, EAL and SEND coordinators to plan activities for SEND & EAL learners, reluctant readers and other students who require additional support.
