Contract: Full-time/Fixed term for two years (in the first instance)

This is a full time/fixed term post for two years in the instance but may be extended for a further three years as additional funding is dependent upon progress of the trial

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to contribute to a high quality impactful research team. The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant team of interdisciplinary staff both within GCU and across a range of institutions and national settings (e.g. University of Bern, Birmingham University, University College London, Brighton & Sussex Medical School, Health Protection Scotland). The successful researcher will work within the research programme to complement behavioural and social scientists, clinicians, health economists and mathematical modellers.

Within the five year programme of work, this post focuses upon using a range of embedded studies. It starts with using the behaviour change wheel the successful candidate will firstly lead formative work optimising an existing sexually transmitted infection (STI) partner notification intervention delivered to heterosexuals with sexually acquired chlamydia infection within clinical settings. Secondly, they will lead upon the process evaluation of a large RCT trialling the intervention. Subsequently, they will lead a programme of exploratory mixed methods work (including large scale surveys on-line and within GUM clinics) developing a similar intervention for other populations (men who have sex with men).

Previous experience of the behaviour change wheel and other implementation science approaches such as normalisation process theory is beneficial.

Candidates must have a PhD/Doctorate in a relevant discipline and a high level of research competency.
