Public Health Strategist
Harrow and Barnet Joint Public Health team are looking to appoint an experienced Public Health Strategists to help us promote health and wellbeing, reduce health inequalities and improve health care. You’ll be working with and learning from a large shared Public Health team, including four other Public Health Strategists. This post will be focused on health improvement in Barnet and based at the Council offices at North London Business Park. It will involve working with partners across the Council and Clinical Commissioning Group on areas such as:
* health and social care integration,
* the development of self care,
* mental health promotion and the reconfiguration of mental health services towards early intervention and recovery in the community,
* employment support and workplace health promotion, and
* support to Commissioners of Substance Misuse Services and Clinical Services.
You will report to a Consultant in Public Health and will have line management responsibilities for more junior staff.
Barnet and Harrow Public Health is a training establishment and offers placements with educational supervision to trainees on the Public Health and GP Training Schemes.
If you have a combination of the following skills and experience we would very much welcome your application:
* A Postgraduate Degree in a public health related discipline or equivalent experience
* A Project Management qualification or equivalent experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* The ability to think strategically and experience of policy/strategy development
* Experience of conducting service reviews and health needs assessments
* Experience of managing and motivating staff
* Experience of successfully engaging with a wide range of stakeholders (professional, political and public) to persuade, motivate and collaborate
* Experience of managing major projects successfully to time, cost and quality
* In depth understanding of epidemiology, statistics and information analysis related to health and social care
* In depth knowledge and experience of Local Government and/or NHS
* Understanding of the commissioning cycle and process
