As our efficient, flexible and resilient Humanitarian Operations Surge Awards Officer you’ll provide invaluable assistance to Save the Children offices around the world, helping support the response, finance and technical teams in managing and delivering awards to meet the donor’s requirements. As well as supporting ongoing team surges, your role will be crucial in meeting growing needs and allowing team flexibility to provide timely and quality award management.

As part of our Humanitarian Awards Team you will provide efficient and effective award management, compliance review and portfolio monitoring to the humanitarian department. Whilst being responsible for all award administration of Humanitarian response awards, you will also support the Response team through effective award coordination during emergency responses. Supporting the Humanitarian Award Manager and Advisors in donor compliance, you will maintain award and financial data integrity in all emergency responses maintained by the Humanitarian Department. You will also:
- Work closely with Emergency Fundraising to ensure consistent award management of SCUK appeal funds as needed
- Support the Business Partners with the review of donor budgets and financial reports as required
- Support the facilitation of training to Humanitarian Response & Surge staff from all technical areas to ensure all have the skills to contribute value add to Award Management in emergency responses
- Visit emergency country programmes to review Award Management Systems and advise regarding best practices.
To be successful you will be flexible, tactful, organised and conscientious, someone who’s motivated by helping those affected by humanitarian crises and who’s willing to travel when needed and get stuck in. You will have experience managing awards and cooperative agreements in humanitarian contexts, including budget and financial report preparation. You will also have:
- The ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks efficiently
- A high degree of flexibility and adaptability in order to respond to changing needs and effectively address issues
- Proven interest / experience in field of Humanitarian operations/response
- Strong numeracy and flair for financial side of award reporting
- Willingness to travel for 10-20% of the year, often at short notice and occasionally to remote and insecure locations
- Strong and demonstrable understanding of the award management cycle, logical frameworks, and M&E concepts.
