We are currently looking to recruit a Fleet Maintenance Engineer (m/f) for our New Cross Gate depot in London


PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


The Field Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for a range of activities in support of the Engineering Manager in order to deliver the technical support and engineering obligations required by the Services TSA contract associated with the Class 378 fleet. In terms of tasks, the role will encompass elements of Performance Management, Systems Engineering and Reliability Engineering. The successful candidate will also be accountable for the identification, documentation and mitigation of engineering and safety risks within the area of responsibility


Your Tasks


– Provide technical support for solving performance and/or maintenance issues while also contributing in enhancing knowledge of the train systems performance

– Monitor, analyse and investigate and develop solutions in a timely manner to solve technical issues associated with operation of the new trains

– Technical incident and accident investigation, and development and implementation of appropriate containment or solutions in order to maintain and improve train performance and reliability

– Measurement of availability, reliability and safety targets as well as claims management and fault attribution as required

– Provision of written reports and technical information (including analysis, instructions, specifications and training material), as per the contractual agreements of Bombardier

– Assist, guide and support Technicians and colleagues to work effectively and safely as a team, to deliver high quality services to the customer

– Develop safe and effective modifications or changes to maintenance specifications in order to improve performance, reduce costs, improve safety or meet customer requests

– Ensure the careful documentation of changes in accordance with formal change control processes

– Ensure the delivery of training and work packages on time and on budget

– Deliver material technical support, review material performance against specification, review reliability and obsolescence of parts and monitor material specification against expected performance

– Identify opportunities for cross-site initiatives that can improve engineering processes and performance

– Identify new products with a potential for performance improvement


Qualifications


– Professional engineering qualification (BTEC/HNC), ideally working towards further education

– Relevant experience in the field of services, field maintenance, fault finding and/or attribution

– Industry background: ideally rail (modern rolling stock), alternatively aerospace, defence or military

– Significant technical knowledge of schematics and maintenance of systems (e.g. electrical, mechanical, electronical and computer systems)

– Working knowledge of basic IT systems (e.g. MS Office)

– Knowledge of a maintenance management system (SAP, Maximo) is a plus

– Ability to collect and understand data and prepare reports

– Highly independent in your work while also showing good communication and stakeholders management skills, whilst working as part of a team
