Property Service Charge Accountant



This dynamic FTSE-listed Property Investment and Development company is looking for an experienced Property Accountant to be based in Covent Garden.


Reporting directly to the Finance Director you will be responsible for Service Charge Accounting and Credit Control.


Key Aspects of the role include


  • Production of annual service charge statements

  • Managing the service charge audit relationship

  • Preparing the service charge quarterly variance analysis, highlighting the reasons behind all material variances to budget, forecast and prior year.

  • Working with the business to prepare the quarterly service charge re-forecast and annual budget ensuring that each a detailed review is conducted and that the forecast/budget accurately reflects the operational plans of the business.

  • Developing relationships with the key stakeholders both externally and internally

  • Service charge balance sheet reconciliations

  • Maintenance of tenant ledger account and collection of debt

  • Reporting of tenant debt and collections including regular meetings with the business and finance as required.

  • Collection of tenant turnover information and preparation of internal tenant turnover reporting.

  • Maintenance of residential deposit scheme schedules and deposit interest calculations.

  • Completion statements for incoming and outgoing tenants.

  • Maintaining procedures for Service Charge Accounting and Credit Control

Applicants must have prior exposure to Service Charge Accounting gained in a Property company as well as experience compiling management accounts and variance analysis. Credit Control experience would be highly useful. Advanced MS Excel skills are a pre-requisite and previous use of Agresso and Horizon would be an advantage.


You should be used to working in a results-orientated and performance driven environment and possess good planning skills with an eye for detail.


This role would suit a strong communicator with effective presentation skills who is used to interacting with colleagues at all levels including non-finance professionals.


You must be a part qualified CIMA or ACCA who is still studying or AAT or ICM qualified wishing to commence CIMA or ACCA studies.


This is a permanent role paying £30,000 – £35,000 plus benefits.
