United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Team Co-ordinator - Hunger Reduction and Livelihoods

As our flexible, enthusiastic and organised Hunger Reduction and Livelihoods Team Co-ordinator you’ll play a pivotal role in team planning, supporting budgeting and resource allocation processes, monitoring variances and suggesting corrective action. You’ll contribute to systems development, ensuring the effective delivery of advice and expertise across our international programmes, and helping us make a real difference to children’s futures.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

Hunger Reduction and Livelihoods is one of six strategic priorities for Save the Children. We aim to reduce poverty and improve the resilience of families through innovative and established programming approaches, which improve food security and vulnerability to disaster, and reduce malnutrition.

As Hunger Reduction and Livelihoods Team Co-ordinator you’ll help facilitate these vital changes as you develop and oversee systems that will enable the smooth running of the team’s African, Asian and Middle Eastern programmes. You will also:

  • Ensure the effective management of grants and assist with grand funding proposals.

  • Co-ordinate invoices and expenses, oversee income and expenditure, and support the team’s HR processes – including the recruitment of staff.

  • Support the team to effectively bill for technical assistance.

  • Organise team and thematic breakthrough meetings.

  • Contribute towards cross-organisational and department-level initiatives.

To be successful, you’ll be a self-starter who’s at ease with financial data, great at devising and maintaining administrative systems, able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines, and who can encourage a positive team environment, boost team morale and coach colleagues where required. You’ll have demonstrable experience of working to specific goals and achieving organisational objectives, and will additionally have:

  • A high level of numeracy plus grant management experience, with a background working to tight budgets.

  • Time and task management skills, including the ability to prioritise, to troubleshoot problems, and to adapt to support a busy team in a varied, demanding and evolving environment.

  • Impressive interpersonal skills, including a professional phone manner, good judgement, a flair for networking and for communicating effectively with a range of people.

  • The ability to support team members in a move towards an increasingly self-servicing administrative environment.

  • Confident computer skills.

Experience working in an international environment and / or with NGOs and donors would be advantageous, while enthusiasm for the work of Save the Children is essential.

At Save the Children our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we’ll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
