United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Editorial Manager


It gets you out of bed in the morning and pays the bills, but are you looking for much more from your job?


Mary’s Meals is a fast-growing international charity, currently providing more than one million hungry and impoverished children in 12 countries with a nutritious meal every school day.


We are looking for an Editorial Manager to work within the International Communications team to drive Mary’s Meals’ global editorial and design content.


First and foremost, you will be an exceptional writer and editor with the desire to utilise your stellar copywriting skills to tell the story of Mary’s Meals to existing and new audiences, including the media.


As well as crafting strong, targeted messaging and producing inspiring copy for a range of communication channels, you’ll effectively lead a small team to ensure a continuous flow of compelling editorial and design content which fits our brand values.


You will have experience of collaborating on the production of publications to tight deadlines, which meet brand guidelines. You will also have a good understanding of best practice around branding and will be able to effectively apply these principles to all content.


Materials produced will range from core editorial and brand documents to day-to-day print and digital content. A solid understanding and experience of working with digital platforms, including web and social media, is essential. You will work closely with the Digital Manager and Content Development Manager to ensure that the communications function is fully integrated and innovative in approach.


You will also play a hands on role, alongside the other Managers in the team, in managing and developing creative campaigns and content to tell the story of Mary’s Meals and to help drive awareness, fundraising and support for our vision.


Upskilling the Marys Meals family in best practice for copywriting and design as fits the Mary’s Meals brand will also be a key part of this role. You will provide support, training and advice to MMI colleagues in 12 national affiliates around the world, to help drive global growth in fundraising and awareness. Your experience in working with the media will also assist our affiliates to apply best practice in engaging with journalists in their geographies.


It is essential that you have excellent project co-ordination skills with the ability to manage a busy workload and multiple projects. You will also have excellent communication, problem solving, prioritisation and time management skills. You’ll be a strong team player, who takes a collaborative approach and enjoys working with a wide range of people with different levels of editorial and design knowledge.


It is vital that you have significant experience as a journalist or in a communications role at a senior level.
