United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Partnerships Manager

Fixed-Term contract

This is an opportunity for a Partnerships Manager to collaborate with the global humanitarian community to improve evidence on public health interventions during humanitarian crises.

ELRHA (Enhancing Learning and Research for Humanitarian Assistance) is a collaborative network, hosted by Save the Children UK, dedicated to supporting partnerships between higher education institutions, humanitarian organisations and partners around the world. It aims to stimulate and support collaborative partnerships between academic and humanitarian communities through its core programmes.

Under the overall guidance of the Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) Programme Manager, you’ll ensure that the R2HC programme nurtures research partnerships to conduct world class, relevant public health research that aims to influence practice within the humanitarian community. Within the R2HC programme you will:

  • Nurture and support the R2HC’s funded partnerships, and broker new ones, to contribute to achieving the R2HC objectives

  • Capture and synthesise the learning around partnership challenges and solutions for researchers and practitioners in humanitarian contexts

  • Contribute to developing communities of practice aligned with R2HC’s priorities

  • Support ELRHA’s Effective Partnerships Manager to strengthen partnership building and mentoring

  • Work with the Humanitarian Health Technical Advisor to ensure that the global humanitarian public health community and relevant research institutions are aware of and engaged in the R2HC programme, both as applicants to our funding facilities, and also as the priority recipients of research outputs

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with a passion for improving humanitarian practice and effectiveness grounded in first-hand experience of working with multi-stakeholder consortia and collaborations. With demonstrable experience of working in the field of partnership brokering, preferably in an applied research context for humanitarian or international development work, you will have the skills to bring new groups together, sustain existing partnerships and have the curiosity to expand the scope of the programme. At the same time you’ll enjoy the flexibility of working in a small team environment. You must also have:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline and/ or equivalent professional qualification

  • Experience in partnership development and management

  • Familiarity with, and understanding of, the academic research sector

  • Strong networking and facilitation skills

  • Evidence of experience in bringing together diverse ranges of people for collaborative working

  • Ability to travel – within the UK and overseas
