BACKGROUND


International Medical Corps UK is a global humanitarian organisation saving and rebuilding lives through health care, training and community development. International Medical Corps UK works alongside International Medical Corps Worldwide, responding to humanitarian emergencies and communities afflicted by conflict, poverty and natural disaster in more than 20 countries around the world.


International Medical Corps UK is moving into an exciting time of expansion, looking to dramatically increase its unrestricted private fundraising, scale up the funds raised, expand partnerships and relationships across the new website and online channels as a key means to increase awareness of the organisation across the UK and Europe. To do this; International Medical Corps UK have embarked on an ambitious strategy to grow public awareness, high profile coverage and high value fundraising to hit ambitious targets for growth.


The Resource Development & Communications Team leads the International Medical Corps UK engagement with private fundraising, media relationships and marketing campaigns across the UK and Europe as well as raising awareness, general outward facing communication and brand. The team is responsible for raising both income and public and media awareness of International Medical Corps UK’s work and brand.


PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


To be an integral part of International Medical Corps UK Fundraising function. Specifically, this will involve:


· Developing, building and cultivating excellent relationships with individuals, trusts & foundations and corporate partnerships to maximise engagement and income.


· Extensive support, management and oversight of Raisers Edge (the database), ensuring accuracy as well as a methodical and logical approach.


KEY RESULTS AREAS (PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)


Fundraising


· Systematically and efficiently manage lower value individuals (giving & raising), trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships, suggesting ways to build on these relationships, maximising engagement and income.


· Proactively identify and approach individual (giving & raising), trusts and foundations and corporate partnership prospects, securing financial contributions and support.


· Systematically manage a prospect pipeline for individual (giving & raising), trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships.


· Promote and market International Medical Corps UK events (where appropriate).


· Coordinate the production of fundraising collateral to support maximising engagement and income from lower value individuals (giving & raising), trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships.


· Contribute new ideas for fundraising and identify suitable funding initiatives and calls for proposals working with the UK Programmes Team.


Database management


· Logically manage the International Medical Corps UK database, ensuring cleanliness and imports of all new supporters and correspondence.


· Prepare relevant accurate and analytical income reports from the database.


· Provide guidance on data segmentation and monitoring of fundraising activities to supporters.


· Work alongside Finance team to ensure that all donations are accurately tracked and reconciled with our donor database monthly and in time.


· Collaboration with 3rd party suppliers to implement processes and optimise the supporter experience.


Working with Communications & Marketing


· Develop and implement an effective programme of awareness and participative support of fundraising for supporters of International Medical Corps UK.


· Ensure the website fundraising information is up to date.


· Proactively contribute to identifying stories to demonstrate impact, photographs and information from the field for fundraising purposes.


Support to International Medical Corps UK Staff


· Alongside the team guide, develop and coach staff with fundraising approaches with lower value individuals (giving & raising), trusts and foundations and corporate partnerships.


· Play an active role as the face of Fundraising within the organisation


Other tasks


· Undertake any other duties commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post.


· Encourage people to support the International Medical Corps UK.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:


· Relevant Bachelor’s Degree


· An understanding of database management and an excellent eye for details)


· Significant front-line experience identifying, cultivating and asking high-net-worth individuals, family trusts & foundations, corporates and planned giving/legacies


· Proven record of successful front line fundraising from high-net-worth individuals, family trusts & foundations, corporates and planned giving/legacies


· Successful experience closing significant gift commitments


· Ability to develop trust and strong collaborative working relationships


· Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including key leadership and staff in the field


· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen, and an unusual capacity to engage, inspire and persuade


· A self-starter with the ability to build systems that will have a long-term impact on the organization. Must have an entrepreneurial and creative approach to problem-solving, and the ability to take advantage of emerging opportunities


· Self-motivated , self-confidence, and a positive “can-do” attitude are essential, as is humility;


· An individual of unquestionable integrity whose professional and personal conduct reflects International Medical Corps UK values.

· Be willing to travel during the course of your duties with possible overnight stays away from home when required.
