Job description for senior analyst


Overview


The Development Results Forum (DRF) is a new organisation focussing on international development issues which has been formed by a number of private sector suppliers to DFID. While it has been meeting on an informal basis for 2 years, it is now formalising & recruiting staff. Palladium is a founder member. Its aims are:


· To contribute to debate and policy development on the most effective means of achieving results in development;


· To facilitate the exchange of views, the conduct of research and the publication of policy work on methods of improving development effectiveness;


· To contribute to a better understanding of the role and achievements of member organisations.


The DRF seeks to recruit a senior analyst with excellent writing skills who is familiar with the international development sphere & key issues


Responsibilities


The most important task is to pull together information from member companies and other sources into clear reports, submissions, publicity material and other written outputs. The work will involve the following responsibilities:


· Prepare statements, responses, letters, guidelines and policy positions;


· Prepare evidence submissions for select committees and other official bodies;


· Commission relevant research, as required;


· Set up meetings & take notes;


· Handle assorted administrative matters;


Required experience


· Experience and understanding of the international development sector, trends and the policy issues that impact it;


· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in researching and writing persuasive and well-written papers;


· An undergraduate degree;


· Budget management an asset.

· Outstanding written and good verbal communications skills;


· Thrives on challenge and working in a fast paced environment;


· Excellent analytical skills, political instincts and judgment;


· Confidence to provide advice and counsel;


· Self-starter with the initiative to drive projects forward;


· A serious interest in international development;


· Articulate.
