Five Fully-Funded Psychology Phd Scholarships
Nottingham Trent University – Investing In Excellence
(for June or October 2016 start)*
The Division of Psychology at NTU is one of the largest in the country with over 60 staff and over 40 postgraduate research students. Our work covers the full spectrum of applying theory to real world issues. We are seeking three outstanding candidates to go directly onto PhD study. The scholarships will pay the equivalent to UK/EU fees and provide a maintenance stipend (currently £14,057 for 2015/16) for up to three years.
Applications are welcomed from undergraduates who have or expect to obtain a first class degree in a psychology-related subject and postgraduates who have or expect to obtain a commendation or distinction at Masters level (or equivalent) in a psychological discipline.
Two of the scholarships are in the area of forensic psychology and are jointly funded by the Safer Living Foundation and Circles UK respectively:
Homeless not houseless: exploring the role of adequate accommodation in sex offenders’ desistance from offending
Evaluating community-based Circles of Support and Accountability from the perspective of core members: successes, failures and everything inbetween
For informal enquiries about these scholarships, please email Belinda.Winder@ntu.ac.uk.
The remaining three scholarships are open to whichever area of psychology a student wishes to pursue, assuming we have expertise in the area within the Division of Psychology.
For informal enquiries about this scholarship, please email Gary.Jones@ntu.ac.uk.
You must include a 1,000-2,000 word research proposal with your application. Candidates are strongly encouraged to contact Belinda Winder (for the forensic scholarships) and potential supervisors (open project scholarships) prior to submitting an application.

The scholarship competition is open to applicants who wish to study for a PhD on a full-time basis only. The scholarships will pay UK/EU fees (currently set at £4052 for 2015/16 and are revised annually) and provide a maintenance stipend linked to the RCUK rate (this is revised annually and is currently £14,057 for academic year 2015/16) for up to three years*. The scholarships are due to commence in October 2016.
*Applications from non-EU students are welcome, but a successful non-EU candidate would be responsible for paying the difference between non-EU and UK/EU fees. (Fees for 2015/16 are £12,300 for non-EU students and £4,052 for UK/EU students)
The closing date for applications is 12:00 noon on 13 April 2016.
