Network Service Technician FTC
What is the purpose of the role?
To provide excellent customer service to Thames Water customers by undertaking operational tasks, resolving customer issues and carrying out network valve activities with the least disruption to supplies.
What makes this role unique?
The role of the Network Service Technician is a varied role where you will be meeting many different people and organisations on a daily basis. This will entail dealing with a variety of issues from the small scale to the complex. You will be working on the front line of Thames Water’s operations coming face to face with our customers and solving their problems. There is an excellent training and development framework in this position in order for the successful applicants to excel in the position.
What will this role involve?
This role will involve:
Operating the mains network, including controlling burst mains, ensuring isolation of mains to facilitate planned work, emergency repairs and maintenance.
Taking personal ownership of customer issues, responding to queries & complaints, resolving issues.
Ensuring water quality compliance during repair. Acting as local network expert for isolation and rezoning providing information for risk assessments & sharing information regarding network risks and other Health & Safety issues.
Being responsible for investigating the clean water network to resolve poor asset performance, including high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries and loss of supply.
Working in compliance with Company procedures including Asset Management Standards, Health & Safety and Streetworks legislation.
This is a night position: hours of work are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8pm to 6am.
What are we looking for?
In order to succeed in this role you will have a can do attitude. This role involves meeting with customers, working on small and large scale problems and problem solving. The ability to think on your feet, communicate well and be solutions focused is therefore essential. You will have excellent customer service skills in a constantly changing environment. Good IT skills are necessary to communicate information via a portable device in the field. Ideally you will be educated to NVQ Level 2/City & Guilds/GCSE or equivalent, although this is not essential. Due to the nature of the role you will need a valid driving licence.
Thames Water information and salary details
This role is field based; covering the Brixton / South London area. We are offering a salary of between £22,000 and £25,500, depending on skills and experience. Please note this is a 12 fixed term contract.
