The
world is undergoing an information revolution and the British Library is at the
forefront of that revolution. Our IT systems provide the means to ensure that
the Library can safely store and provide access to all content (digital and
physical) created and acquired by the Library, forever.
In
this newly created role you will direct IT technical test activities during
development and integration of key Information Technology Systems that support
the British Library’s services and operations. This role will be working in a
hands-on capacity whilst leading, managing and developing the current team of
testers within Application Development in day to day activities. You will be
responsible for devising, implementing and enforcing an IT testing methodology
that can be adopted across Library software development and test teams,
ensuring testing methods are as efficient and automated as possible. You will
work with our technical project managers to devise a test strategy and approach
for projects and work alongside them from the early stages of projects to
implementation, managing requirements, devising test cases, executing tests and
reporting defects. You will provide leadership and motivation to testing staff
and be responsible for system, integration and performance testing, co-ordinating
with stakeholders. You may be required to undertake the role of Scrum Master.
The successful candidate will have test management experience with knowledge of
configuration and release management. You will have demonstrable knowledge of a
range of testing techniques, tools and strategies including manual and
automated testing, with the ability to produce professional and well-structured
testing and implementation deliverables. You will have good attention to detail
with excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will have
experience in working within an agile delivery environment, planning test
activities and resource allocation across multiple projects and work packages.
You will have a Good working knowledge of structured software development
methodologies.
