United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: DEPP Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer

Action Against Hunger | ACF International is an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger. Recognised as a leader in the fight against malnutrition, ACF works to save the lives of malnourished children while providing communities with sustainable access to safe water and long-term solutions to hunger. With over 30 years of expertise in emergency situations of conflict, natural disaster and chronic food insecurity, ACF runs life-saving programmes in over 47 countries helping some 13.6 million people each year.

The DEPP (Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme) represents a £40 million portfolio of 14 projects in 10 focal countries, implemented by the Start Network and CDAC-Network over 3 years. Each project has convened a consortium of agencies and partners to tackle a particular change required to make the humanitarian system more resilient, organisations more prepared and individuals ready to respond when disasters threaten the most vulnerable people worldwide.

The DEPP knows that an evidence gap exists in the sector about the critical success factors for capacity building in humanitarian contexts. Therefore the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Framework of the DEPP (or DEPP MEL project) was designed as a standalone project led by Action Against Hunger UK. The DEPP MEL team plays a critical role in supporting the whole programme and all DEPP projects to maximise the uptake and impact of its evidence.

We are recruiting for a DEPP MEL Officer to provide support in implementing monitoring, evaluation and learning services across the Operations and Nutrition department. This person will play an active part in ACF’s ‘Bubble’ (a pool of MEL and KIM practitioners working in a highly collaborative, flexible and multidisciplinary environment) and deliver key learning outcomes as a part of a passionate team of practitioners. They will apply keen and creative analytical skills, bring fresh perspectives and new ideas, enjoy a flexible and adaptive working environment and come with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.

This role will primarily be focused on the Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme (DEPP). The DEPP MEL officer will play a key role to support the MEL team which is disbursed over 10 countries with the day to day running of the MEL project. Key tasks will include organising learning events in the UK and in country, development of learning materials, playing a key role in the team’s knowledge and information sharing strategy, supporting the team of 4 Regional Learning Advisors in their day to day work, working with the external evaluation team as well as providing coordination, logistical and administrative support to the team.

We are always looking to recruit passionate and dedicated individuals who are keen to join our team and contribute to the fight against child hunger. For more detailed information on the role, please download the attached PDF Job description.

The post will be based in Action Against Hunger-UK’s London office, only candidates with the right to work in the UK may apply.

Closing date for applications: 8th July 2016. Interviews scheduled for week commencing 18th July 2016.

Unfortunately due to the number of applications we receive we are only able to contact shortlisted applicants. Thank you for your understanding.
