Situated within one of the UK’s leading research Universities, the Faculty of Health Sciences offers superb facilities for research and education and is one of the largest and most successful of its kind in the UK. With world-class academic staff committed to transforming health services and improving health outcomes, we are committed to building on our national and international research reputation

We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Fellow/ Senior Research Assistant with experience of undertaking qualitative research in health care settings to work on a two year project funded by the NIHR Health Services & Delivery (HS&DR). The study will investigate what patients, service providers and healthcare professionals  think and feel about urgent care services (such as NHS 111 and walk-in centres), and how and why patients use them. You will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience, good first degree and postgraduate qualification (minimum MSc) in a relevant social science discipline (e.g. health sciences, sociology, social policy, social psychology). You will have strong qualitative skills and some knowledge of health care delivery and organisation. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of the project team which includes colleagues from the Faculty of Health Sciences, South Central Ambulance Service and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. Knowledge of the NHS and experience of NHS Ethics and research governance processes would be an advantage

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Dr Joanne Turnbull, j.c.turnbull@soton.ac.uk.

Enhanced DBS clearance will be required for this post.
