United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Humanitarian Support Officer
We have an exciting opening for a Humanitarian Support Officer to be based in Tearfund’s Humanitarian Support Team. This is a fixed term role until August 2017, with the possibility of extension.
Your focus will be to support Tearfund’s response to new disaster situations, providing surge support as requested by the Tearfund Geographic Team in the UK and possibly overseas. The role could include assessing project proposals from partners, writing project proposals (narrative and budget) for donors, assisting in the design and deployment of an Emergency Response team and contributing to evaluations and learning reviews.
During periods between responses your focus will be to ensure learning around humanitarian response is effectively compiled, disseminated and re-applied across the organisation, representing Tearfund to external networks, supporting best practice commitments, assisting geographical teams in the capacity assessment of partners and ensuring that Tearfund’s Emergency Surge Response is updated and effective.
You will be educated to degree-level or equivalent and have proven experience supporting emergency response and disaster management work. An organised person, with a good ability to plan, prioritise and organise multiple work tasks under tight timelines and in close cooperation with multiple stakeholder
