Cashier/Receptionist (Fixed Term) - HCA - London





About the facility

Located in the heart of London’s esteemed medical district, the newly-refurbished Princess Grace Hospital offers a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Supported by world-class doctors from leading London teaching hospitals, the hospital has 129 beds, including a purpose-built intensive care unit, catering for Level 3 patients. Our eight fully-equipped theatres include three laminar flow theatres for orthopaedic surgery, a hybrid theatre to enable complex vascular surgery, a robotic surgery suite along with some of the most advanced radiological diagnostic facilities in the country.

Job Description

As the Cashier Receptionist you will provide a high quality service to all visitors to our hospital, ensuring that they receive the excellent service they expect. You will book appropriate appointments, take payment and insurance details from patients and deal with the general admin of the clinic.


Hours: 37.5hrs per week


Salary: £18,310 – £21,500 per annum (Dependent on candidate experience)


This is a Fixed Term position for 12 months


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provide a professional, friendly welcome to all patients, visitors, consultants and staff and deal with their enquires

  • Answer telephone enquiries, referring to clinical staff where appropriate

  • Correctly explain the processes to patients including payment procedure

  • Register patients and enter charges onto the computer system

  • Generate the final bill for patients and receive payment

  • Assist patients in accessing insurance cover where appropriate

  • Contribute to department data capture

  • Awareness and compliance with hospital policy

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive reception/customer service experience within a hotel, banking or hospital environment

  • Able to go the ‘extra mile’ for a customer

  • Excellent spoken English

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable

  • Experience of processing payments
