Assistant Plant Manager - Alstom Transport, UK - London

The ATC joint venture, consisting of Alstom, TSO and Costain, has been awarded its first contract to fit out and commission the Crossrail tunnels currently being bored under the streets of London.

The contract is worth over €350 million, and is one of the largest that Crossrail intends to award. It will see the Alstom-led joint venture fitting out the 21 km of twin tunnels that will stretch under London with the track and power equipment necessary for Crossrail trains to operate from 2018.

ATC will be installing over 40km of track, together with rigid overhead conductors, a system that is being used for the first time in the UK to power heavy mainline trains through tunnels.

Purpose:

• To effectively assist the management of all Plant on or off track, Locomotives and Wagons for ACTJV.

Key Tasks and
Responsibilities:

Assist the Plant Manager with –

• Implementation of Maintenance Schedules and procedures for Locomotives and Wagons owned by ACTJV.


• Monitor Maintenance Schedules and procedures for Locomotives and Wagons hired by ACTJV.


• Source Plant equipment and tools to be hired or purchased by ACTJV.


• Plan, implement and record all planned maintenance and unplanned repairs to ACTJV owned Locomotives, Wagons, Plant or tools.


• Monitor and record all planned maintenance and unplanned repairs to ACTJV Hired Locomotives, Wagons, Plant or tools.


• Record all visual and physical inspections of all hired Plant upon delivery to site and upon off hire and collection from site.


• Maintain the ACTJV plant and tool asset register.


• Effectively manage teams of chief mechanics and specialised fitters.


• Procure, assess the required spares and consumables likely to be required for the duration of the project and maintain adequate stores stock likely to be required.

Person
Specification:

• Experience required in Mechanical Engineering and Construction Railway needs.


• Able to manage a multicultural team.


• Good network of Plant and Rail hire contacts.
