This role will be based across the 3 shops within the London College of fashion so you will be expected to be adaptable and travel between sites as necessary.
On a day to day basis you will work as part of a small team of approximately 2-3 people aiming to deliver great results and support the needs of the college and students. Reporting to the Area manager this sales assistants role at UAL will encompass all the general day to day duties of a sales assistant such as
- Participating in the day to day running of the shop
- Operating the till and accurately handling cash, credit/debit card sales and all other transactions
- Reconciling the days takings and accurately banking them
- Keeping the shop clean and tidy at all times and maintaining displays
- serving customers and providing an excellent level of customer service at all times,
Being polite when answering customer queries
- Receiving and unpacking deliveries and stocking upthe shelves
- Assisting with annual stocktakes and regular stock checks
- Ensuring the shop is safe and all fire exits /escape routes are free from obstructions and that health and safety procedures are effectively carried out.
- Ensuring any issues are reported to the area manager
- Being vigilant at all times to help minimise stock loss
Your profile
As this role is based across a number of stores with the product range emphasis being on fashion materials you will need to have a good basic product knowledge of both fashion and sewing materials as well as the more traditional art and design materials – and be able to demonstrate a keen interest in at least one of these areas.
As a Sales Assistant you will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy helping both customers and your colleagues. You will need to have previous experience of working within an art and design or haberdashery shop, and have a proven track record of working in a retail environment. You must also have had some expereince of ordering processes, keeping on top of stock levels, and have a good understanding of the importance of doing so. You will need to be efficient, reponsible, flexible and react to change in a positive manner hard-working and being able to work on your own and as part of a team.
