Lecturer/Mental Health Care Academy Practice Lead

Middlesex University

Middlesex University – School of Health and Education

Hendon / Camden & Islington Mental Health Foundation Trust: Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health

The Mental Health Care Academy (MHCA) established in 2014 is moving into phase 2 of its development. Funded by Health Education North Central & East London (HENCEL), the MHCA is an exciting and innovative collaborative initiative between Middlesex University, Camden and Islington Mental Health Foundation Trust and Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. Based on the theory of a ‘knowledge-building community’ the MHCA seeks to enhance continuing professional development and NHS workforce preparation. It is modeled on a process of exploring and solving issues as a social process, meaning that all participants in the Care Academy benefit from each other’s skills, knowledge and perspectives.

The Mental Health Care Academy is now seeking to appoint two posts for Lecturer/Practice Lead. The posts will initially be funded for one year and the opportunity for secondment is available.

You should have robust practice experience together with a demonstrable understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing mental health practice. An interest in social media technologies and a commitment to innovative practice would be particularly useful. This is a time of unprecedented change in mental health and the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape mental health practice across two major Mental Health Trusts and influence curricula and workforce development within the tripartite partnership.

Successful candidates will have strong leadership skills and a commitment to developing mental health education/training/practice development with stakeholders to meet sector needs, to enhancing the learner experience and contributing to and developing the evaluation and knowledge transfer of the MHCA.

It is essential that you have a professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing with current registration (NMC), a postgraduate qualification or equivalent and a strong practice background, with interest in contemporary learning technologies.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.
