We are looking to appoint a postdoctoral research associate to undertake research in the MacAskill Lab on the cellular, circuit and synaptic basis of affective behaviour. The post holder will be expected to develop and conduct an independent research project investigating the roles of hippocampal circuitry and how it is altered in neuropsychiatric disorders, producing independent, original contributions to the field.
The post is funded for 3 years in the first instance.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or be close to being awarded a PhD) in a relevant subject area and have proven technical skills in the general techniques in synaptic, cellular and circuit neuroscience. Extensive experience with mice, rewarding and/or aversive behaviour, knowledge of data acquisition and analysis is desirable.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £29,485 – £30,091 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
