Leeds Trinity University is a successful University community which offers a high quality learning experience to its students. Applications are invited for the following post:
SENIOR LECTURER IN CRIMINOLOGY (1.0 FTE)
Starting salary in the range £38,896 to £42,488 per annum
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, collaborative, high performing academic member of staff in Criminology. Leeds Trinity University is a modern university with an emerging research culture. The scale of the institution provides for an extremely supportive environment and facilitates research across discipline boundaries. The University is well resourced and has a significant reputation for high quality teaching. Student feedback is excellent and we have consistently performed well in the National Student Survey.
We are expanding our portfolio of undergraduate provision to include Criminology and are also keen to develop our research in this area of work. We are now seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic member of staff to join us and help us deliver our Strategic Plan by delivering both high quality teaching and research.
The post-holder will lead the development and delivery of the new undergraduate programme in Criminology and possibly contribute to a related programme of Sociology, both of which will welcome the first cohort of students for the academic year 2016/17. The ability to teach core areas of study in Criminology across all levels is essential. The ability to contribute to some related Sociological areas of study and/or either Qualitative or Quantitative Research Methods at undergraduate and post-graduate level is also desirable. The ideal candidate will also bring links and external contacts to help facilitate the development of our research portfolio. Candidates should demonstrate potential for grant income generation.
We welcome applications from candidates who have a PhD in Criminology or a closely related area of study and experience of delivering Criminology modules within a University. Alternatively, we also welcome applications from candidates with substantive professional expertise and experience working as a Criminologist, who would like to make a transition into a University environment. Applicants should be research active with a track record of publications commensurate with their career stage and/or be able to offer knowledge exchange activities to the profession. The ability to work as an effective team member, contributing to the provision of high quality teaching across undergraduate and post-graduate levels is essential. All new staff will be expected to contribute to our next REF submission.
The post will provide an ideal opportunity for an established academic or professional Criminologist to contribute to the development of our new programme in Criminology, research activity, post graduate studies and CPD provision. We offer an excellent range of benefits including generous holiday entitlements, staff development opportunities and a pension scheme.
