Senior Practice Nurse - London
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Practice Nurse to join our team at Tollgate Lodge Healthcare Centre on a full time bsais.
As a Practice Nurse you will assist in the delivery of nursing care to patients attending the Health Centre. The role requires you to function autonomously and within your sphere of competency, whilst being a support and resource to less experienced members of staff. You must be able to assess patients, carry out relevant tests, and arrange follow-up whilst offering advice and information. You must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinical decision making .Essential skills for the post includes Chronic diseases managements, Deliver high standards in all Local and National Enhanced Services, phlebotomy, lifestyle advice, dressing/wound care, infection control, Childhood immunisations and cervical screening, as well as computer literacy.
The Health Centre is a clinical facility which requires in individual to have the ability to work effectively as part of a multi professional team within a fast pace environment, in line with the protocols and policies of the local Service and Care UK.

Key Responsibilities
•Prioritise patient care and manage own workload effectively.
•Assist in orientation and support to new staff to the unit.
•Support junior staff with supervision and development.
•Take the lead role in event of any major incident within the unit in the absence of a senior colleague.
•Participate in the collation of the off duty rota.

•Proven post registration experience including evidence of working in any of these following clinical areas;
Primary Care environments
General Practice
Acute specialities
•Experience of working autonomously
•Evidence of team leadership and supervision of junior staff
•Evidence of teaching and assessing others
•Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
•Ability to gain the appropriate level of patient consent
•Evidence of autonomous working and the skills in physical assessment required, diagnosis and treatment by use of portfolio
•Evidence of extended skills eg;
1.cytology / smears
2.diabetes
3.asthma
4.CHD
5.vaccinations & immunisations
6.wound care
•Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
•Basic IT skills
•Ability to demonstrate clinical expertise and knowledge of audit
•Demonstrable critical reasoning skills and decision making
•Demonstrable evidence of multi-professional / multi-agency working
•Ability to prioritise patient care
Qualifications
•1st level Registered Nurse with current registration with the UK Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC). Substantial post registration.
•Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
•Post registration qualification in practice nursing or equivalent
