United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Humanitarian WASH Adviser
Save the Children UK are looking for a passionate and self-motivated individual with significant field experience to join us as a global level Humanitarian WASH Advisor, based in London. Whilst deployed 30% of the time to support WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) work in crises, globally, you will also lead on Policy and Innovation, forming part of Save the Children’s core leadership team for humanitarian WASH.
Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Humanitarian department integrates emergency and development work, through our country programmes. It increases our capacity to meet the assistance and protection needs of children and their families affected by crises. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.
As the successful candidate you will build on preliminary research on how to provide emergency sanitation for infants through research into new technologies, hygiene promotion for children and hand washing techniques, and you will also help us develop new tools and seek funding for the role. In addition you will:
- Lead on policy, innovation and learning for the global Humanitarian WASH team
- Support programmes in fragile states and new emergencies
- Identify opportunities for future programme development
- Deploy to field at short notice to set up new emergency WASH programmes
- Contribute to learning documentation from programme implementation.
To be successful you will have:
- Proven field experience and strong analytical skills;
- Significant experience and track record of success in design and implementation delivering high quality emergency WASH response programmes
- Enthusiasm and drive to move things forward
- The ability and willingness to travel to remote and insecure locations at short notice and to be flexible and adaptable in difficult environments.
