We are looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to take forward a novel project to investigate whether deficits in a particular form of short-term memory as a result of glutamatergic dysfunction might be a key determinant of hyper-dopaminergic responses and aberrant salience. Two posts are available.

Combinations of cutting-edge electrochemistry and interference techniques will be used in behaving rodents during tests of learning/memory and attention. The studies will be performed in the Behavioural Neuroscience Unit in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford.

The posts are fixed-term until 31 August 2018, funded through the Medical Research Council (UK), with a start date of January 2016 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

Candidates should have obtained, or be near to obtaining, a PhD in a relevant discipline (psychology, neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology), have a demonstrable interest in decision-making, and practical experience with behavioural testing of animals. Experience with stereotactic surgery, pharmacological manipulations, and perfusion/histological procedures are essential, along with experience with in vivo electrochemical and/or electrophysiological recordings. You will need excellent organisational and record keeping skills and the ability to work independently.
