Business Analyst





Our client, a small to medium side Lloyd’s syndicate is looking to recruit a Business Analyst on a 12 month FTC. The successful candidate will support teams across the business, providing key analytical skills that will enable business problems to be understood and the subsequent requirements (technical and business) documented, tested and delivered in order that technology, process, and organisational change can be deployed and supported effectively.


Key Responsibilities:


Help the business to identify and define business requirements.


Document detailed business requirements and specifications, and ensure these are agreed at all levels throughout the business. This is likely to include the following:


  • ‘As is’ and ‘to be’ process modelling

  • User stories including acceptance criteria

  • UML (use cases and class modelling)

  • User interface mock-ups / specification

  • Gap analysis

  • State transition diagrams

  • Non functional requirement

  • Support IT development through system analysis, design, specification and construction

  • Provide support to quality assurance, and system and user acceptance testing

  • Assist business with process mapping & analysis

  • Planning and coordinating full user acceptance testing with the business

  • Understand the business and technology architecture for areas of responsibility, documentation of current and future state.

  • Help define and implement revised business processes.

  • Ensure that full business change implications associated with project delivery are understood and implemented.

  • Help the business prioritise change through a clear understanding of the associated business benefit.

  • Assisting with the production of training material for new systems / processes.

General Duties and Tasks


  • Define business architecture and assist with the definition of the technical architecture in conjunction with Global Business Architecture teams

  • Understand and recommend changes to business processes in support of technology change

  • Provide timely updates on opportunities, risks, issues and progress

  • Ensure high quality deliverables through reviews and testing

  • Provide input to effective realisation of benefits through training and second/third-line support

Plus any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role.


Knowledge required


Essential


  • Strong facilitation, presentation & negotiation skills

  • Demonstrable experience as the interface between business users and development teams

  • Demonstrable experience of using use cases, UML, user stories

  • Minimum 5 years business analysis demonstrable experience and knowledge of business analysis methodologies

  • Analysis and leadership of projects within Lloyd’s market. Minimum 5 years London Market insurance experience

Desirable


  • Candidates with experience in Reinsurance business,

  • Claims

  • Delegated authorities

  • Bordereaux Management

  • Exposure Management and Underwriting specific experience, will be particularly suitable

  • Experience of working closely with Accountants and accounting processes

  • Experience of working with Data Warehouses

  • BCS BA (ISEB) or equivalent certification

  • Prince2 Certified or PMI PMP Certified

  • SCRUM

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:


2:1 or 1st class university degree in IT or business related subject


ISEB in Business Analysis


CII qualifications


6Sigma or similar (desirable)
