United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Health Informatics Officer


12 Month Fixed Term Contract


We are looking to hire a health informatics officer to support the development and deployment of Save the Children’ Health Management Information System (HMIS) using the software DHIS2. DHIS2 is an open source tool that will be used to capture, analyse and monitor data in our health and nutrition programmes in around 60 countries. The Health Informatics Officer will provide ongoing support on the development, configuration, implementation and use of our HMIS

As our dedicated Health Informatics Officer you will provide custom configuration of the DHIS2 for end users at field and global level. You will provide general guidance and support on DHIS2 to the Health Management Information System (HMIS) team based in London whilst also:


  • Supporting the implementation of the HMIS at field level through in-country training

  • Ensuring general problem-solving and technical support for any system malfunctions in London and at field level

  • Escalating any identified bugs to developers

  • Working in collaboration with software developers to design, test and implement modifications or extensions of DHIS2.

To be successful you will have a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Software Engineering or a related field. You will have a permit to work in the UK for the duration of the appointment and be fluent in written and spoken English. You will also have:


  • Software development proficiency: Javascript, JSON, HTML 5, CSS

  • Experience in SQL and database management

  • Experience working in LINUX/APACHE environments

  • Experience in providing technical support for a diverse, non-technical, geographically dispersed user community

  • Availability for short trips according to project plans

  • A ‘can-do; attitude and the ability to work on your own initiative to deliver results against tight deadlines with good quality results.

Please note that experience in public health, knowledge of health data management, experience of working for a Non-Governmental Organisation and fluency in French or Arabic are all desirable.
